Why
do we raise funds?
This
year, 25 students are enrolled at Frankie Lemmon
School and Developmental Center. That is the maximum
capacity that can be met with our current site,
budget and faculty resources. Waiting lists for
children whose delays qualify for our programs
are common, unfortunately.
More
than 1/3 of our 2002-2003 fiscal year's $517,000
operating budget is comprised of revenue from
last year's Triangle Wine Experience.
The current annual cost of service delivery per
child is $21,000.
To improve and expand classroom facilities, a
$500,000 renovation is planned. A limited Board-led
capital campaign, beginning in May 2003, is being
conducted.
To
confront the necessary costs of increasing our
enrollment and hiring more teachers, the 2007
Triangle Wine Experience net funding goal will
exceed $500,000.
Given
the State of North Carolina's unabated budget
crisis, state funding for special needs populations
is not likely to increase. Private funds availed
through vehicles such as Triangle Wine Experience
will become ever more critical in the near-term
to Frankie Lemmon School. Literally, young lives
depend on this.
