About Us

Frankie Lemmon School and Developmental Center was the first preschool in Wake County specifically designed for children experiencing delays in development.

The school serves children who may have developmental delays, language impairments, learning disabilities or mental retardation.
Children enrolled are 3-6 years old.
School hours are 8:30-2:30, following the Wake County Public School traditional school year calendar.
Transportation is provided by Wake County Schools.

About Our Program

An individualized education plan is developed for each child with assistance from the parents, and parent involvement is encouraged.
The curriculum places special emphasis on communication skills and personal independence. All faculty members utilize sign language or other augmentative communication systems as needed, in conjunction with verbal language.
Teachers have B-K certification.
Specialized therapies are provided if a child’s education plan specifies the need.
Children without special needs are included in the classrooms and in activities on a regular basis as part of the Enrichment Program.

Facts About Us

Community Involvement

Frankie Lemmon School serves as a placement for college and university students preparing for careers that focus on children and families. Volunteers from the community are an important part of the daily classroom support.
