Frankie Lemmon School serves 25 children, ages 3-6, with special needs. The children are divided into three classrooms. Each classroom has a certified teacher and a full-time assistant. There is also a part-time assistant who helps in each classroom as needed. The three year old class has seven children, the four year old has eight; and the five year old has ten. Each child has an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) which is developed by the parents, teacher, therapists and Wake County Schools representatives.

The school employs a full-time licensed speech therapist who does individual speech therapy with children whose IEPs specify it. She also does weekly language groups with each classroom. Additionally, the school contracts for occupational therapy services, physical therapy services, vision therapy services and hearing therapy services as needed to fulfill the requirements for each child's therapy needs as indicated on the IEP.

The school offers a full-day program which follows Wake County School's preschool calendar. Transportation to and from school is provided by Wake County Schools.

Typically-developing children are enrolled on a part-time basis to provide mainstreamed activities. Special activities are also shared with typically-developing children throughout the year.
